Dear Morristown and Morris Township Library Community Members:

On May 3, 2010 there was a devasting and destructive explosion at the Joint Free Public Library of Morristown and Morris Township, a philanthropic institution that has been serving Morristown, Morris Township and the broader community for the past century. The Library building is in the heart of Morristown and is at the center of civic life. The building is a place where children go to learn, the unemployed consult resources about retooling their careers, civic organizations hold meetings, and citizens come to research their family history. The explosion affected the whole Library but did tremendous damage in particular to the Library's historic Willis Wing, which was constructed in 1917. The Library staff is working day and night to put portions of the building back into a condition where the Library can resume serving the public. The Library community wishes to thank all citizens who have given and offered support during this difficult time.

The Morristown and Morris Township Library Foundation is now asking citizens to make donations that will allow the Library to come back stronger and more vibrant than ever. Those wishing to make donations can make their checks payable to the Morristown and Morris Township Library Foundation, One Miller Road, Morristown New Jersey 07960. The Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and donations to it are tax deductible. The Foundation thanks all community members for their past, present and future support.
