Back by popular demand! The NJSC hosts European-trained designer and educator Adua Celentano, who will share her unique design for a super elegant and super easy to make coat/cape. Capes are a chic piece that can do wonders for your wardrobe by converting a casual outfit into high-fashion look in seconds. Participants will draft and take away a custom fit pattern. In addition, sleeve options, trim and design details and techniques will be explained and discussed. Samples of the design in variety of fabrics and techniques will be on view. Find out who your ancestors were! This program is for beginners, covering basic methods and terms. We'll show you how to get started and provide an overview of our Library’s specialized resources for family historians and genealogists. You’ll learn about best research strategies and practices, methods for organization, and tips and tricks about researching online to locate relevant records and documents. You will leave with a good idea of how to do family research. The workshop includes a tour of our reading room, and will be held in the Library's Tech Lab.

New Assistive Technology Computer

New Assistive Technology Computer
The Morristown and Morris Township Library is excited to provide a new Assistive Technology Computer to the public, which offers magnification and speech software including JAWS, Magic, Talking Typer and ZoomText. The computer is available for use in the Reference Department and comes to us through a partnership with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) and the New Jersey State Library.  Read more...

The Rotary Club of Morristown and John Bickford Foundation Provide the Library with a Technological Boost
The Morristown & Morris Township Library was the recipient of two grant awards from the Morristown Rotary Club and the John Bickford Foundation for the purchase of laptops in the Library’s Technology Training Lab. Each $4,000 grant enabled the Library to update all of the laptops in the lab, which are used for public computer classes the Library offers throughout the year as well as for other purposes. The Rotary Club provides grants and sponsorships to organizations in order to better serve the community, while the John Bickford Foundation has a long history of supporting institutions in Morristown.  Read more...

Free Assistive Technology Classes Available at the Library

Free Assistive Technology Classes Available at the Library
If you are 55 or older with a vision change, free assistive technology classes are now available to you in the library. This program is provided by The New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) as part of the Library Equal Access Program (LEAP) for New Jersey residents 55 and older who have experienced a change in vision. The Commission supports FREE iPad and computer training classes through Advancing Opportunities. The next session of classes will take place this March through June, at eight public libraries around the state, including the Morristown & Morris Township Library.  Read more...
