Research Databases

The library subscribes to over 50 online Research Databases that supply trustworthy information compiled by respected book and journal publishers. Use these databases at the library or from home with your library card number to find magazine and newspaper articles, online reference books, company data, and reliable resources for homework assignments in all subjects.

You will need to enter a valid library card number (no spaces), from a Morris County Library to gain access from home.

	Biography Collection Complete (Ebsco) Biography Collection Complete offers a comprehensive collection of full-text biographies supporting history, science, the arts, music, literature, multicultural studies, gender studies, business, government & politics, sports, entertainment and many other areas.
	Biography In Context (To access this database from home you must have a valid Morristown and Morris Township Library Card.) The Biography In Context database is made up of nearly 200,000 narrative biographies and over 100,000 thumbnail biographies on personalities from Aristotle to J.Lo. It also provides links to magazine articles and web sites about the person.
	Bloom's Literary Reference Online Basic information about authors, works of literature and literary characters. From Facts on File
	Bookletters Bookletters provides access to up to date information on books, authors and book awards. Through a series of subject based newsletters you can stay well informed about any book related topic of interest to you. Read the newsletters online or subscribe to them and have them sent directly to your email account. The library has its own newsletter that highlights some of our newest fiction and non-fiction titles. To see or subscribe to the library's newsletter choose Newsletter Daily and then scroll down to Morristown/Morris Township Library.
	Business Source Premier Scholarly business journals, trade journals, business magazines, country economic reports from EIU, Global Insight, ICON Group International, CountryWatch etc, market research reports, more than 10,000 substantial company profiles and over 5,000 industry reports. Also includes comprehensive full text for over 50 regional business publications, including titles from Crain Communications.

	CQ Researcher A weekly publication covering the most current and controversial issues of the day. This database is excellent for student papers.
	Curriculum Resource Center Provides a library of printable teacher-handout material for the middle school, high school, and junior college curriculum. From Facts on File
	Daily Life Offers an overview of daily life around the world from ancient times to modern times. Topics include political, religious, economic, recreational, intellectual and domestic issues.
	Ebsco Ebsco provides access to a variety of databases that index newspaper and magazine articles on topics from health, education, and business to general reference.

	Encyclopedia of Associations The only comprehensive source for detailed information on nonprofit American membership organizations of national scope. Each entry features a range of valuable data, typically including the organization's complete name, address, e-mail, Web site and phone; the primary official's name and title; founding date; purpose and activities; dues; national and international conferences; and more.
	Facts on File Finds articles about history, literature, science, health, careers, teacher curriculum materials, and it even includes an atlas.

	Historical Newspapers (New York Times 1851 - 2006) The complete full-text of the New York Times from 1851-2006. Coverage will always end 2 years before the current year.
	Historical Newspapers Extra! Extra! Edition offers full-text and full-image articles for newspapers dating back to the 19th century. Perfect for students, this database offers complete full text access to The New York Times, plus other historical newspapers for certain topics and eras. Special features include a topic search, a timeline, this date in history and famous dead people. 	Informé Revistas en Espanol. IAC's database offers indexing, abstracts and selected full-text for 60 popular Spanish-language magazines. Coverage dates vary, most magazines are indexed beginning 1996 or 1997. Informe is updated monthly.

	LearningExpressLibrary (With Computer Skills and a Career Center) LearningExpressLibrary provides interactive online practice tests and tutorial courses in math and English designed to help students and adult learners succeed on academic or licensing tests. It also has online interactive Computer Skills Courses for popular programs like Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Its newest feature is a career reference center. This program will require you to create an account. Morristown and Morris Township Library cardholders should create an account with their library card number and will then be able to use the program at home or in the library. All others may use the program in the library only with any account name.
	Literary Reference Center (Ebsco) Provides in depth information on thousands of authors and their work from major respected reference works, books, literary journals and more.
	Mango Languages (To access this database from home you must have a valid Morristown and Morris Township Library Card.) This interactive language learning system offers training in over 35 languages. Languages available include French, German, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Russian, Chinese, Hebrew, Brazilian Portuguese, Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese, Japanese and more. Some of the English courses available are for Spanish, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and Korean speakers.

	Mergent Online (Company Data) (To access this database from home you must have a valid Morristown and Morris Township Library Card.) A fully searchable database of 15,000 U.S. public companies (active and inactive) listed on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ exchanges. Also available are FactSheets, which provide presentation-quality, one-page summary equity reports. Equity Research Reports offer buy, hold and sell recommendations for the company and peers.
	Morningstar To access this database from home you must have a valid Morristown and Morris Township Library Card.) Morningstar analysts' independent opinions on 1,900 stocks and 2,000 funds. Compare stocks and mutual funds or conduct your own portfolio analysis.

	Prices 4 Antiques This database contains information on antiques, collectibles, fine art and historic Americana sold at auction throughout North America. It does not sell antiques.
	ProQuest ProQuest provides access to a variety of databases that index magazine articles on topics from health, education, and business to general reference. It also provides indexing and full text from The New York Times, USA Today and many other newspapers.
	Proquest Newsstand Full text access to regional, national and international newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and USA Today.
	Reference USA This database is part of a group of databases paid for by the State Library of NJ. To access Reference USA from home you must enter your library card number to get to the search screen. On the page with the search screen you will find Reference USA listed under the Business category. Profile data on 11 million domestic companies. Listings are searchable and sortable by business name, location, yellow page heading, SIC code and size of operation. Information is culled from current telephone books. From a remote location printing and downloading will be limited to 25 records.
